“Huge thank you to all of you at the Big Apple motorcycle School. I signed up online for your class, not knowing what to expect and with 0 experience with Motorcycles. I have learned so much far and beyond any expectations I had. It is a smooth learning process , from begging to end. Felice was amazing, not only super knowledgeable and very funny, which made the first day 5 hours ‘class learning’ be as much fun as the actual riding part, she was so positive, and so supportive. She constantly gave me confidence, no matter what , and It is so important because it can be a bit nerve-wracking at times, it is all so new, and demanding. But I felt she is there for me, at any given moment! And that made a huge difference for me! Big thank you to Sam and Diane as well, you are wonderful teachers and it was a pleasure learning from you all!”from Michal of Commack, an April 2015 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

Also because of that its going to a load of information to learn and apply. Tough, but necessary. The instructors were great, firm but pleasant. The test bikes were in great shape and easy to ride. The loaner gear was also of good quality and clean. The course was non-threatening and there was a bathroom and chairs to sit in. Terrific! Overall, thank-you and thanks to the instructors for the services they provide to Long Island.”from Chris of Northport, a November 2014 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“Very professionally run school. A great way to start with motorcycles. Perfect for someone who wants to start with a good foundation and do things legal and right. Learn the basics, get your license and then safely explore and learn on your own with a solid foundation. Don’t just buy a bike and take your chances driving it illegally. Do it right. It’s way too important. This school is step 1.”from a November 2014 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“I took the Basic RiderCourse to see if riding is even for me. I was happy to see I wasn’t the only one coming in to class with a few fears/apprehensions but left not just feeling more confident but actually excited about riding. I had resigned to the mindset that a trike style bike would be the only thing I’d feel confident on but now am finding myself looking at 2 wheel bikes and can hardly wait to get out and roll on the throttle through a few curves. The instructors were wonderful. They were all equally competent and patient and the course itself was perfect. One skill led in to the next and even though the U-turn is currently the bane of my existence, I’m sure with a little more practice I’ll get that too. Thanks Big Apple, I’ll definitely be coming back for more training.”from Cindy of Stony Brook, an October 2014 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“I recommend this course to everyone that wants to learn how to ride, and ride safely. The instructors were fantastic and had so much patience. I learned so very much, and feel comfortable now. Thank you for teaching me how to ride, and how to ride safely.”from JoAnn of Syosset, an October 2014 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“BAMS provides a great way for the complete novice to get into motorcycling SAFELY. I did this course with my girlfriend so we could ride together for pleasure (like skiing!). I had been a rider 20 years ago. The Rider Coaches are absolutely experts in the field with demonstrable experience (bike control is impeccable and their turns are beautiful and smooth) and Felice, George, Sam and Randy are all good teachers and provide very helpful and constructive feedback constantly throughout the course. I highly recommend this course and BAMS in particular. The price is very well worth it. We are going to do additional private lessons with BAMS and get ready to hit the road confidently and safely. Thanks guys!”from Andrew of Brooklyn, an October 2014 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

I have experience riding off-road but I cannot ride on loose sand. If my friends ever want to some day start to ride a motorcycle definitely I am going to recommend your school because I know they are going to learn a lot about safety as I did. Because I do on and off road riding i believe BMW and KTM are the best motorcycles ,when I saw Diane with her red f700 she made my day. January 4, 2015, I am going to be with the Dakar rally in Argentina. I recently bought my first bike, a Kawasaki Vulcan 900, and because of Big Apple, I feel like a safe rider with an excellent base of knowledge. Big Apple gave me the tools to grow with, and because of this, every day I improve on my skills and become more and more confident. I just can’t sing your praises enough. I have referred several prospective riders to your school as well. So thank you guys again. You truly are the best out there. And knowing what I know now, I easily see that your only priority is to produce safe riders. Owning my own bike is the most exciting thing that I have done for many, many years. “I joined the class with absolutely no riding experience and found myself riding safer and better than many of the cyclists I see on the streets.”from Ryan of Freeport, a July 2012 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“It cannot be stated strongly enough how thorough and professional this course and the instructors were in every imaginable respect. Obvious to even the most casual observer was the fact that the the individuals entrusted with the daunting task of teaching even marginally coordinated students to ride displayed a high degree of care, concern, and success regarding the impartation of knowledge, the honing of skills, and ultimately the safety of the students. Classroom instruction, rather than being boring, was both thought provoking and highly informative. The riding instruction was so well done that both beginners and “experts” alike could learn something that could potentially save their lives. The instructors were able to totally eradicate bad habits that I had developed as a self taught rider, despite many years of experience both on and off road. These included but were not limited to proper utilization of the press technique rather than weight redistribution, the proper implementation of the friction zone, slow speed control, looking in the direction that the bike needed to go (huge emphasis here), the avoidance of target fixation, use of a more relaxed grip, et al. Rather than continue with endless accolades, let me state that not only would I not hesitate to recommend Big Apple Motorcycle School, but I do so on a regular basis, to whoever will listen. Truly, it is an monumental achievement realized through hard work by some outstandingly dedicated personnel. My sincere gratitude goes out to them as it is indeed very well deserved.”from Rick of Wading River, a July 2012 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“The course exceeded my expectations. It was never boring and everyone got personalized attention when needed. I loved the encouragement that each and everyone of the instructors offered. Diane was like everyone’s mother in that she was not only encouraging, but her excitement for our small accomplishments, at least for me, made me want to continue. George was the strict, ” you can do it, try it again type”. But also just as encouraging. At one point, I was afraid to keep going and he told me “take a deep breath and do it again”. It was both of their motivation and encouragement that will make me encourage others to take the course. It was worth every penny and I will look to take other advanced classes in the future. Not only will I be a better motorcyclist, I feel I am a better driver of my automobile as a result of the course. The instructors made sure our class learned the skills necessary to begin the journey of cycling responsibly. Big Apple, I will forever be indebted to you and strongly recommend if anyone is looking for a top notch school–it’s yours.”from Charles of Bellport, an April 2012 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“I knew of your school through Full Throttle Magazine and friends that had also taken the course. Since I had purchased a heavy weight bagger in September, 2011, and was allowed to use my own bike, the course enabled me to see exactley what an 835lb bike could do after proper instruction on the courses and practicing the methods and skils demonstrated and taught to us by the instructors. I especially liked how they at first, would tell us what corrections to make on the course, then as the day progressed, they asked us what we as individuals could do on the course to improve the particular skill being worked on. By allowing us to give our own input as to what we as individuals felt we were doing wrong, made me much more aware of the correct procedures and controls to make the bike do what it was capable of doing with correct rider input. I will add that if you think you are a good rider, this course will teach you to unlearn bad habits, and learn the proper techniques to manuever your machine with much greater confidence. I would urge any rider to take the course, and I can tell you first hand you will come away more self assured in your new found riding skills. Thanks again Big Apple for all your help.”from Jerry of Ridge, an April 2012 student who took our MSF BRC2 (Experienced Rider Course).

“School was very helpful. Really gave me a good idea if motorcycle riding is for me.”from a November 2011 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“I signed up for this class having never ridden a motorcycle before and I was pretty nervous about it as well. Diane, George, Steve and MJ were absolutely fantastic and helped me learn everything I needed to in order to feel confident, and knowledgeable on a motorcycle. I was able to grasp every concept that I was taught and transferred that to my time spent practicing on the bike. I would recommend this from the absolute beginner such as myself to riders that need reinforcement on ideas they never really learned. Thank you so much for giving me this new skill and hobby that I can enjoy the rest of my life!”from Steven of Huntington Station, a November 2011 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“George/Diane and the gang were an excellent and proficient group of trainers that demonstrated that they have been working with new riders for years. They have a specific set of objectives that they wanted us (regardless of past experience) to learn and this is clearly stated at the onset of the training and emphasized throughout all the exercises. The impressive part is they all have an eye for seeing where each individual student needs to either work more on their technique or where they need to unlearn and relearn proper technique. While this may seem a bit like over kill at the beginning I think everyone in my class including myself quickly understood that good technique is key to successful completion of the course and also key in creating a firm foundation for making better decisions regarding the level of risks each one of us is willing to take when hitting the streets. Great job teaching a high challenge course in such a short period of time.”from Christian of Stewart Manor, a November 2011 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“Quite frankly, everything was very useful! I feel confident that I will be able to take what I learned with me and I’m excited to do so. I am no longer afraid of the bike and can begin to enjoy my rides. The only thing I could say is that I wish we had a bit more time to practice tight turns and counter-weighting but I guess that will come with private practice. I enjoyed the course very much and everyone’s (including the instructors) excitement and positive energy! Well worth it! Thank you!”from Stacy of Center Moriches, an October 2011 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“Ultimately I was looking to gain my license but I got so much more. After not riding for 20 years, I decided to get back on, but wanted to do so legally. Taking your course solved two needs: Road test waiver and get safety education / formal rider training. What I took away from the basic course was so much more than basic information – I realized some bad habits that I must now break from, to be a safe rider. Kudo’s to you and your team for that. Didn’t know what to expect, but what I received far surpassed my needs. Thanks again. BAMS will definitely be on my recommendation list for my family, friends and fellow riders.”from Larry of Moriches, an October 2011 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

One thing that particularly stood out for me was that the ‘all’ the coaches were ‘extremely observant’ of ‘anything’ the students were doing improperly, and provided immediate corrective action/instruction. I would consider taking some advanced courses and possibly even some one-on-one training to further develop my skills.”from John of East Patchogue, a September 2011 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

I would like to thank everybody for a wonderful experience.”from Robert of Westhampton Beach, an August 2011 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

Thank you!”from an August 2011 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

I have already recommended this class to co-workers.”from Julia of Brooklyn, an August 2011 student who took our Women’s only MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“Coming from a girl that has never rode a bike before or even started one up I was extremely impressed with the class. At first I was very intimidated because I didn’t know how the coaches would treat me since I was the youngest girl and completely inexperienced, but they made me feel so comfortable not only with the bike, but within the group as well. When I first sat on the bike I was extremely nervous and wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue but with the instructors encouragement, patience and help I not only completed the class but cannot wait to go shopping for a bike! You can really tell that all the coaches love what they are doing and really want to help you be safe on a bike. At the end of the weekend not only did I gain soooo much knowledge about riding a motorcycle and completed the course, but I gained new friendships. You can really tell that Diane and George are really there for you and treat you as part of their family. Monica and Felice were wonderful as well, they were patient and encouraging, at one point I was so frustrated I couldn’t mentally get over the hump but having all the coaches there for you was great; they are extremely patient and give you constructive criticism, they tell you what you did wrong and need to fix (which I love) and at the same time aren’t afraid to compliment you when you do it right. I would TOTALLY recommend Big Apple Motorcycle School, not only are they there to teach you about the safety of riding a bike, but they are there for you in the future if you need anything and are really amazing people!! It’s really important to feel comfortable with the people who are instructing you on how to operate a heavy new machine and they definitely do here! I hope to see them again soon :)”from Peggy of Commack, an August 2011 student who took our Women’s only MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“The course was perfect in every way. Having never been on a motorcycle, my wife and I were entirely new to the concept on Friday Morning, but by Sunday afternoon we felt comfortable and confident. Truly an amazing experience and a pleasure to take part in. Thank you to all the dedicated staff that make it all worthwhile.”from anonymous, an August 2011 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“I had absolutely ZERO experience in riding a motorcycle before walking into this class. I was a bit intimidated at 42 years old to join such a course, but everyone made me feel at home and welcomed me with open arms. It’s difficult to not know how to do something for me, but the patience the instructors show is amazing. George is a great guy and never shuts you off when you are describing what you’re feeling on the bike. They always encourged my feedback which helped me really learn how to ride a motorcycle. I recommend this course to ANYONE looking to get on a bike. If you’ve never ridden before, DO NOT hesitate. Please sign up for this class, I promise, you’ll be glad you did!.”from Chris of Massapequa Park, an August 2011 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“I took the Big Apple motorcycle course to become a safe rider for myself and for when my wife rides with me. I was apprehensive about riding as I rode some as a teenager on friends dirt bikes, my original course was set for the end of July, but when Dianne contacted me with available spots and ended up getting in a class a month earlier my anxiety grew. Upon walking into the class I was immediately greeted by the very happy and sincere instructors and knew immediately I had made the right decision. The following riding day there were 11 students with 3 instructors. I found that several other students had absolutely no experience and a couple did not even own bikes yet. The instructor made everyone comfortable and spent time explaining and demonstrating each exercise so that everyone clearly understood what was expected. I watched as all the other students learned to ride and realized as I felt myself learning how to swerve, weave, take corners properly and quickly stopping that this was a first rate program. I left the program more comfortable and confident with the basic skills to be the safe rider that was my goal with the added benefit of having my full license the very next day. I took my wife on a bike run for veterans the following weekend. There were close to or maybe even over 200 riders. We did over 100 miles from home and back and the skills I learned were employed and I was shocked to see so many riders not really paying attention. Multiple times I noted other riders doing emergency stopping and one incidence I was forced to. The skills kicked right in like second nature. My wife was surprised at how I was able to handle it so easily with no stress. Thank you, Diane and my sincerest thanks to the your staff for their efforts.”from John of Shirley, a July 2011 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“I first met Diane about 8 years ago at the NY City M/C show and we had great conversation. I have always wanted to ride a street bike, but there were not many bikes for women, Diane inspired me. The course and especially the instructors provided exactly what I needed and expected. GREAT job folks. Keep it up.”from Susan of Shoreham, a July 2011 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“I had about 1100 miles experience before taking the class and figured it would get me my license in 3 days. What I learned was just because I can take a motorcycle from one place to another doesn’t mean I know how to ride a motorcycle. I picked up some bad habits in all those miles and Big Apple taught me the right way to ride and control a bike and more importantly how to prevent accidents.”from Jeffrey of Medford, a July 2011 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

“I was extremely impressed with how professional this class was run. This was my first time on a motorcycle and being one of two girls in the class I was a little intimidated going in. However, the coaches never made me feel uncomfortable. Actually there were some girl coaches there as well. All of the coaches were very thorough, patient and also a lot of fun. They made me feel very comfortable and confident. I am a mother of 2 young kids, soccer mom, whole nine yards. But I have to say I will be getting my kids off to school and hopping on a bike real soon, because this class has turned me into an official biker chick! This is a must take course – I was amazed at how much I have learned. Even people in the class who were experienced riders said they learned a lot of new skills and safety issues. I must tell you that this was the most amazing, life changing experience I have ever had. I would highly recommend Big Apple Motorcycle School. Thanks again Big Apple, you guys are awesome. “This was a wonderful school. The instructors were knowledgeable and patient with the students. As someone who already knew the basics the first riding day is a bit tough but always remember there are those there who have never even sat on a motorcycle. Day two was great Learned a lot of things I had never even thought of when riding before. Some had been done instinctively and others I now notice the difference in maneuvers because of the lessons learned. Overall a great program definitely made me a safer more cautious motorcycle rider. Thanks again guys.”from Darren of Coram, a 2011 student who took our MSF Basic RiderCourse.

The instructional staff provided a calmness, respect, positive reinforcement, professionalism at the highest level and remarkable patience with each student regardless of age and gender. They are seasoned professionals with extensive knowledge and experience that helped guide our group to successful completion. When a student needed to remount their motorcycle to perform a skillset one more time leading to a result as perfect as possible, each instructor assessing the skill were carefully observing, grading, and above all making sure that safety was always the priority! Each instructor demonstrated the skill prior to students taking to the course. This enabled the students to create a visual map of exactly what to do and when a student needed to make a second attempt at successful completion of the skill, the instructor was there watching, coaching, and more importantly guiding the student towards success. Diane & George are Pros making you feel confident and safe. I plan on taking more classes to become a better rider. Thanks for everything.”from John of Massapequa, a 2010 student who took our Road Test package.

“I can’t say enough about BAMS – everyone who had a hand in my education and developing my moto skills is a top-notch professional, as well as being attentive and considerate. “I am an adult learner and I ask a lot of questions; Diane and her staff were very patient and made my experience an awesome one. Love this school”from Jacqueline of Brooklyn, a 2010 student who took our Novice Rider package.

“I’m so glad that BAMS was recommended to me by my motorcycle dealership. Diane and George were extremely professional and provided continuous feedback on how I was performing during each training exercise. I learned technical skills that you need in order to pass the road test of course, but more importantly, they taught me to be a more aware and safe rider. I had only ridden a dirt bike a few times (almost 20 yrs ago) before taking the course but I passed the DMV road test easily and have already put 150 miles already on my new bike – and I only finished the BAMS course 1 week ago!!!! I’m sincerely thankful to George and Diane and would recommend them to anybody getting their license for the first time or just looking to be a better rider. Thanks again guys.”from John of East Meadow, a 2010 student who took our Novice Rider package.

“Having never riden before I was very happy with the training I received at Big Apple . They took me step by step through the learning process so that by the time I was to take my road test I was very confident . I’ve been riding for a few weeks now and am confident in my training and look forward to returning to Big Apple to expand on the driver training . I’d highly recommed Big Apple for anyone wanting to learn how to ride . Two thumbs up !!”from Jeffrey of Levittown, a 2010 student who took our Novice Rider package.

“So, you’re thinking of riding a motorcycle, and want some extra help? You get what you pay for. I say this because intially I was going to attend another riding school which did cost less and would have allowed me to not take the NY road test. Boy am I glad I didn’t. Teaching at Big Apple was 1 on 1, 2 on 1 and sometimes all 3 instructors for 1 student. Diane, George and Dave were all fantastic in their teaching. They teach the rights and wrongs, and don’t criticize or belittle you if you mess up. The professionalism from Big Apple is 2nd to none. Think about that when your class size is 10 – 12 students and one teacher. I was recommended by a friend, and will recommend Big Apple to anyone who is interested in the propper riding techniques.”from Chris of Williston Park, a 2010 student who took our Novice Rider package.

“It was well worth it and I learned things I didn’t even know I had to know about motorcycles and motorcycle riding.”from David of Lynbrook, a 2010 student who took our Novice Rider package.

Although I already passed the road test without a problem thanks to their help, I still plan to take further lessons to enhance my skills. Thanks!!!”from a 2010 student who took our Intro to Motorcycling package.

“The best way to learn how to ride. Diane and George were nothing but knowledgable, courteous, and attentive to each individual need. They went out of their way to make sure that you understood things and were comfortable and satisfied. The best way to learn how to ride at your best!”from Marc of Commack, a 2010 student who took our Novice Rider package.

“I really enjoyed the classes and they were very helpful!”from Scott of Deer Park, a 2010 student who took our Novice Rider package.

“It’s been just about two years now since I took your classes, and I haven’t looked back. I have over 10,000 miles on my Vulcan 1500 Classic now, and I have to say that you guys did a great job training me. I received many compliments on my riding in my first year and I’ve been all over New England with groups and solo. “from Michael of East Northport, a 2008 student who took our Novice Rider package.

I wish you the best luck and success in the future and I will see you when my son is ready to take lessons himself.”from Joe G., a 2008 student who took our road test package.

“When I began this training I didn’t even know how to start a motorcycle. You both took me step by step through the fundamentals of motorcycle operation. You provided an environment that was both friendly and conducive to learning. As the lessons progressed I was presented with different techniques for safe motorcycle operation. Each lesson built upon the previous one. From pre-tripping the motorcycle to driving in traffic each item was conveyed in a very logical and easy to understand manner. Unlike other motorcycle schools, Big Apple provides you with one on one instruction. I found this to be the most valuable aspects of the training. In the end I leave with confidence in, and respect for the safe operation of a motorcycle. Thanks again for everything!” from Mark M. of East Northport, a 2008 student who took our novice rider package.

After the first lesson if I had had any doubt initially, all my concerns were lifted and I never felt so positive. One more thing…when I finished the road portion of my road test and came back to where the other students were waiting to take their test, I received a wonderful compliment on my circles and figure 8’s and I have to say that I owe all of that to Diane. She really over emphasized the importance of turning my head and looking at her which helped me so much. Thanks Diane and George! See you on the road”from Carrie of Plainview, a 2008 student who took our novice rider package.

“Thanks for all the help I received, I will definitely recommend your school to other people.”from Ricardo of Islandia, a 2008 student who took our novice rider package.

The two on one approach with George and Diane was a great way to really hone in on many of the key points of riding and emphasizing a considerable amount of time on safety practices and responsible riding, especially with regard to proper attire and being seen on the road strategically, so that others are aware of your presence and you can enjoy yourself on the open road with much greater confidence in yourself and the others around you.
